Revision of regulations governing inappropriate behaviour

The Executive Board has approved the revision of the existing “Regulations on the reporting by ETH Zurich members of inappropriate behaviour”, RSETHZ 615. The revision is aimed at further developing the complaints procedures and enhancing prevention. The regulations now distinguish between three points of contact that can be approached by members of ETH Zurich:

  • The Respect Office provides guidance on who ETH members should preferably approach with their questions. It also offers short-term coaching for persons seeking advice. The Respect Office operates confidentially.
  • A new Clarification Office offers advice and support in resolving tensions and conflicts in the workplace. The Clarification Office can also be called on by supervisors for support with regard to prevention and the early detection of escalation potential.
  • The External Reporting Office conducts formal clarifications based on written reports of inappropriate behaviour (such as discrimination, accusations of bullying and sexual harassment).

The revised regulations will enter into force on 1 July 2024 under the extended title “Regulations on the reporting by ETH Zurich members of inappropriate behaviour and workplace conflict”. Further information will follow in a few weeks’ time on Internal news.
